Since founding Lexington Companies in 2010, Kevin Coughlin has provided strategic counsel, public affairs and business development services to a variety of clients. He represented Summit County in the Ohio Senate from 2001-2011 and served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1997-2001.
During his 14 years in the Ohio General Assembly Kevin developed a reputation as a thoughtful and fair-minded legislator, earning respect on both sides of the aisle. He gained expertise in health, energy, higher education and fiscal policy. For six years Kevin was chairman of the Senate Health, Human Services & Aging Committee. He also served stints as chairman of the House Finance & Appropriations Higher Education Subcommittee and the Senate State & Local Governments & Veterans Affairs Committee.
During his time in office, Kevin was a leader in the Council of State Governments. He served on CSG’s Executive Committee, Governing Board and as Co-Chair of the CSG International Committee. He also served as the 2005 Chair of CSG’s Midwestern Legislative Conference. For five years, he chaired CSG’s Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development which trains 33 Midwestern legislators every year to be strong leaders.
Kevin is a National Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States. He is a member of the Blossom Music Center Board of Overseers and the Summa Western Reserve Hospital Community Business Leaders Council.
Kevin occasionally teaches state and local government and politics at Ohio’s universities and is a frequent contributor to several television and radio news programs.
